The short answer

Gear found during a run is temporary until you complete the required hunt and purify it at the Church. True death risks unpurified finds, while previously purified equipment remains safe. A limited pocket lets you bank a promising item without weakening the loadout you are currently wearing.

Find, survive, purify, upgrade

  1. Enter a mission with permanent purified gear.
  2. Equip useful drops or store a promising piece in the limited pocket.
  3. Keep enough lives to defeat the stage and run bosses.
  4. Return to Sanctus Clypeus so successful loot becomes permanent.
  5. Upgrade and combine the new item with future loadouts.

What purification protects

Once gear is purified, it belongs to your armory. Dropping or replacing that item during a later mission does not erase the permanent copy. The real risk applies to new finds that have not yet survived the run.

Use the pocket: Store a high-potential item when equipping it would break the build that is keeping the run alive.

Rarity is not the whole build

Launch reporting describes a familiar color ladder up to epic and legendary equipment. High rarity can mean better potential, but perks and Weapon Arts determine whether that potential fits your engine. A blue item with 3 matching effects may be a better future project than a legendary with no synergy.

A safer farming route

Farm the highest difficulty you can finish consistently, not the highest one you can occasionally survive. Start with a purified core, target one weak equipment slot, and leave when the run has already produced a meaningful upgrade. More rooms mean more chances—but also more ways to lose what you came for.

Frequently asked questions

Do you lose all gear when you die?

No. Previously purified gear remains permanent, but true death risks new unpurified finds from the current run.

How do you keep loot permanently?

Complete the required run objectives and return so the Church can purify the gear.

What is the item pocket?

It is limited storage for carrying a promising drop without immediately equipping it.

Is legendary gear always best?

No. Perks, Weapon Arts, and build synergy can make a lower-rarity item more useful.
